The Spa town of Bad Doberan

The inhabitants of the Spa Town Bad Doberan - Heiligendamm
accommodate those since nearly 200 years of guests, to the cure,
to the recovery, to play and fun journeys. Bad Doberan experienced
a significant boom after Grand Duke Friedrich Franz I of
Mecklenburg designated the town as his summer residence.

In 1793, at the duke's behest, Germany's first seaside resort, "Heiliger Dam," was established;
a casino followed shortly thereafter, and in 1822,
the first horse racing track on the European mainland was built. In 1854, what is arguably Germany's most beautiful avenue of lime trees - nearly 6 km long - was created, along which bathers of the time traveled by carriage from Bad Doberan to Heiligendamm to enjoy the seaside. It still serves today as the historic connecting road between Bad Doberan and its district of Heiligendamm.

Finally, in 1886 - after only four weeks of construction - the " 900-mm-narrow-gauge railway Molli" between Bad Doberan and its later incorporated district of Heiligendamm. Surrounded by beautiful beech forests, Bad Doberan not only has something in store for nature lovers and those looking for relaxation, but also has a lot to offer interested guests in terms of history and culture in addition to the aforementioned sights.

From at the beginning 19. Century come many klassizistische architectural monuments of C.T. Severin. They educate an ensemble, which in his unanimity specialists and laymen admire equally in holy dam. Center of the klassizistischen land development of the city Bad Doberan is the Kamp - a park in the English style -, in it stands the only Chinoiserien Mecklenburgs.
